Freemie Liberty II is a double breast pump that offers hands-free pumping. You will put this breast pump into your bra to pump on the go. It works well for working-class moms, who don’t want to leave the office to pump.

The breast pump is not bulky. It is about the size of your palm. Hence, it will fit inside your bra for you to pump while doing other things.

This breast pump uses two funnels to collect milk from your breast. This breast pump comes with many accessories including a pump clothing bag, four breast flanges, one carrying bag, etc.

It has two collection cups that can take up to 8 ounces of milk each. These cups are reusable and easy to clean. Since your bra will support these cups, they are stress-free to use. You just pump into it and turn the milk into your bottle or breast milk bag, and clean the cup.

Features And Benefits of Freemie Liberty II Breast Pump

  • It is portable and lightweight

This is one reason this breast pump stands out. The pump motor itself can fit into your palm and weighs 9 ounces. It is easy to fit into a bag and carry around.

Its size is about half the size of other double electric breast pumps like Medela and spectra, and will not even occupy a large spot on your countertop.

This portability is the reason this breast pump is suitable for travel because it can fit into other luggage. It is not an extra load. It is so light that you won’t even notice you are carrying something extra.

  • It is a single and double pump

Though this pump motor is small in size, you can pump from both breasts at once. You can also use a single breast pump if you want to feed your baby with one breast while you pump from the other.

This makes it suitable for a wide range of situations.

  • It offers hands-free pumping

Who wouldn’t love to use their hands for other things while pumping? It is even tiring to hold onto heavy bottles while you pump.

With Freemie Liberty II, you can use your pumping time for work or other things. You can even pump while you make up your face for work. Yes, it is that flexible.

The cups are round and fit for your bra. You can wear the breast pump and still zip up your jacket, depending on how tight the coat is. It is ideal for the stay-at-home and working class the same.

This doesn’t mean that people won’t notice that there is an extra load on your boobs. They will, but this pump is still great for use in a private office, or public if you don’t care that much.

Inez Stanway loves the hands-free feature

Inez of Live Laugh Create said:

“I have been using a Freemie breast pump for about a year now and I absolutely love it! I originally chose it because it was recommended by my lactation consultant, but I have since come to appreciate all of its features. First, of all, it is completely hands-free, which is very important to me since I am also a mom to a toddler. I can pump while I am cooking dinner or playing with my son without having to stop what I am doing. Additionally, it is very quiet, which is also important when you are trying to be discreet. Overall, I love the convenience and flexibility that the Freemie breast pump offers, and it has definitely made my life as a breastfeeding mom much easier!”

  • It uses food-grade closed-collection cups

This breast pump uses high-quality food-grade plastic cups to collect milk. They are free from BPA and other toxins that contaminate breast milk.

It also has high-quality seals to keep your milk in good quality and prevent spillage.

  • It has good suction strength

Freemie Liberty II breast pump is a hospital-grade electric pump; hence, good suction strength. The suction setting is also adjustable and you can find your comfort level.

Amy loves this pump, but has some reservations

Amy A. Vincent is a mother of three beautiful children and an author of Amy Baby Review. She said:

“I’ve used the Freemie breast pump. It is so easy to use and it really does get the milk out quickly. I love that I can pump without having to take my shirt off or sit in an uncomfortable position. It is also very quiet, so you can continue having conversations or watching TV while pumping.

Here is what I love about the Freemie breast pump:- You may purchase your own pump if you like. I got an Ameda joy pump since it was hospital grade.- Pumping on the go is easy to do.- Portable- Easy to clean- Their hard case is effective in preventing any leaking.- For the price, these are the best.

What is not great about the Freemie breast pump:- They don’t vacuum to your breasts, making it harder to move about. You can walk, but not really bend over too far or do anything.- Because they have a cord system, it’s more difficult to be discreet than with a cordless system.- Sometimes cords pop out during the pump and then that side is not pumping well. Overall, it’s a decent system but not the greatest wireless mobile pump for movement and discretion.”

  • LCD screen for easy use at night

This LCD screen allows you to pump without looking for a light source. It also has a timer that tells you how long you have been pumping.

The memory setting on this screen saves your setting so that you don’t set it afresh for each pumping session.

It also has a battery indicator that shows how much power you have left. If it is low, you can charge it with the USB charger provided.

  • It has a quiet pump motor

You can pump without distracting people in the public because of the quiet pump motor. This quietness allows you to pump in the night without waking your partner or baby.

Though the company has not specified its decibel rating, customers applaud this pump for its quietness. Even when it is not completely silent, it will blend in with any white noise that is already present in the room.

Pros

  • It uses safe cups
  • It is quite discreet for public pumping
  • It is lightweight and great for travel
  • It is easy to clean
  • It can work as a single or double pump

Cons

  • It doesn’t drain the breast
  • You can’t tell if your milk has stopped flowing because of the closed cups
  • The cup can leak
  • It doesn’t have a strong battery

Real mom review on Freemie Liberty II breast pump

Brooke Cavalla is a mom of four kids ages 9 months -7 years and owner of a website called “Struggles of a Fit Mom”. She said

“I had to exclusively pump with my last baby because he never latched after a tongue tie revision.

The Freemie Pump was a LIFESAVER!

I needed something portable because I couldn’t be tied to a pump with four kids to care for every 2-3 hours.

I chose this pump because it was the most resonably priced out of the top rated hands-free pumps and it had good review. Because this was my last baby, I didn’t want to spend a fortune on something I was only going to use for a short time.

I found the Freemie pump to be a great option for portability and being able to pump just about anywhere/anytime.

I was able to pump in the car while i was driving my other kids to and from school, cooking meals or just tending to my other kids.

It was very user friendly and I didn’t find it too bulky.

However, I didn’t feel like it ever emptied me completely and the cups would often leak if I bent over or moved abruptly.

The collection cups and parts were a little pricy so I only had two sets which meant I had to wash a lot of parts throughout the day.

It was a little difficult to transfer the milk to a bottle and a little milk would often spill. This wasn’t a huge deal for me but i know a lot of moms do not like losing any milk!

Overall, I think it is option especially for the price.  I don’t think I would recommend it as my only pump, especially if someone struggles with maintaining their supply,  but it is a great, reasonably priced option to use in conjunction with a medical grade pump like the Spectra or Medela .

And many insurance companies will help pay for a standard breast pump so adding the Freemie is a very cost effective option.”

Victoria mentioned the noise issue

Victoria Taylor is a parent, writer, and teacher and the founder of BestCaseParenting.com. She gave a detailed explanation about the pump.

“I love the freedom that the freemie breast pump provides me. With a kid under two, I’m always on the go, and I never know when I’ll have time to nurse my baby. But with this pump, I can express milk anywhere – in the carpool line, library, or at work. It’s really saved me during those times when I can’t be with my baby.

I love that the Freemie breast pump is so easy to use and that it doesn’t require me to be hooked up to a machine. I can pump in any room in my house or even when I’m out and about. It’s also really quiet, so nobody else knows what I’m doing.

As a mother, I love the freedom and convenience of the Freemie breast pump. It’s easy to use and really comfortable. The only downside is that it can be a little loud.”

It comes with two flanges of 25 mm and 28 mm each. It also has 8 ounces collection cups.

The Freemie independence II Deluxe breast pump doesn’t have good ratings compared to the Freemie Liberty breast pump. Customers complained about its suction strength and short battery life.

Real mom review on Freemie Independence II breast pump

This pump worked well for Heather

Heather Welch, the Resource Manager at Ukulele Tabs and a mother of two. She said:

“I actually had the opportunity to get my hands on the Independence II System from the Freemie brand with my last child. With my first child, I actually started out with regular breastfeeding, but tenderness and pain was getting me down. I switched to a breast pump – at the time, I used one from the Medela brand. I did find it a bit uncomfortable, which is why I ended up switching my baby to formula.

With the second child, someone recommended I try the Freemie breast pump. There were a few different models, so I decided on the independence II system. I must admit, I really liked using this one compared to the previous system. It’s really something that I don’t feel self-conscious about using. The pump simply slips onto my breast and you cannot see it from the outside. I do, however, wish that they would include more accessories (breast attachments) in each kit and not expect you to buy each pair separately – that’s the only real concern I have about the brand.”

Freemie Rose Breast Pump Review

Check price on Amazon

Freemie rose breast pump is another good breast pump that is compact and easy to carry around. It still has a small round shape like other Freemie breast pumps and is quiet like others.

This breast pump has a rechargeable battery and is suitable for the Freemie SlimFit5 Cups. It comes with a USB-C cord for charging.

It is also wearable, and you will put the cups into your bra to pump. each collection cup for this breast pump can take up to 5 ounces of milk. These cups are made from Latex and BPA-free plastic.

It is more expensive than the Liberty II and Independence II Deluxe counterparts. Its cup design is the slimmest of all and you can clip the pump to your hips.

It has suction and speed control, but like Independence II, the suction strength sucks.

However, it is lighter than Liberty II and has more accessories than all of them. Besides what comes with Freemie Liberty, Freemie Rose also contains L-Connectors, a pump connection kit, and SlimFit Fitmie Inserts.

We do not recommend this breast pump to anyone. It doesn’t have even one good review on Amazon. All customers cannot be wrong. So, save yourself the extra amount and get more from Freemie Liberty II at a cheaper rate.

Pros

  • It is lightweight
  • It has a quiet pump motor
  • It has an LCD screen for easy pumping at night
  • It has more accessories than other Freemie breast pumps
  • It offers hands-free pumping

Cons

  • It has poor suction strength
  • The collection cups may leak when you bend, even after you snap them shut
  • It may not last long

Freemie Liberty II  vs. Other Breast Pumps

Freemie Liberty II Vs Medela Pump In Style

Photo of Medela breast pump

Check price on Amazon

Medela Pump in Style is a double electric breast pump with super suction strength. It helps moms express more milk in less time. It is best for time-deprived moms and moms who pump up to three times a day.

However, the Liberty II breast pump is not that bad. it may not have the same suction strength as Medela, but it is still a good pump. It can still extract a good amount of milk in a short time.

It is a little cheaper than Freemie Liberty II and has better reviews too. However, it is not as portable as Freemie Liberty II. The pump motor is big, and you cannot sneak it into a small work bag.

Also, Freemie Liberty II offers more discreet pumping because you will wear the cups directly in your bra and cover them with your cloth. For Medela, you pump into bottles, and these bottles will hang down for everyone to see.

Freemie Liberty II Vs Spectra S2 Breast Pump

Check price on Amazon

Spectra S2 is another powerful pump like the Medela pump in style. It is safe, quiet, and comfortable. However, Spectra S2 is bulkier and heavier than Freemie Liberty II and needs a power outlet for each pumping session.

Spectra S2 also has a rechargeable battery like Freemie Liberty, and Spectra S2’s battery is stronger than Liberty.

The Freemie Liberty II breast pump still beats Spectra S2 in terms of portability and discreetness because you can wear the collection cups in your bra.

FAQ

Can I use Freemie cups with other breast pumps?

Freemie Deluxe cups are compatible with many breast pump brands including Spectra, Philips, Ameda, Ardo, Evenflo, and Lucina. So, you can combine them for better suction and privacy.

Conclusion

The Freemie Liberty II breast pump is good. It has good suction strength and can extract a good amount of milk within a reasonable time frame. it has a quiet pump motor and the collection cups you wear in your bra will allow you to pump privately.

Though there are other models of Freemie breast pumps, we only recommend the Freemie Liberty II breast pump.
