Mimijumi Bottle (Complete Review)

Sharing is caring! Mamas care!

It is usually challenging for moms to move their babies from breast to bottle feeding. The baby could have latching problems and even nipple confusion. These are the problems that Mimijumi bottles seek to solve.

A baby that is used to the free flow of milk from a bottle may feel too lazy to breastfeed. Besides the fact that they have to latch, they will also have to stimulate the breast for it to let down milk.

Mimijumi produces bottles and nipples that flow like natural nipples. These bottles make your child work a little bit to get milk supply like they do when breastfeeding. That way, they won’t feel any striking difference between breast and bottle feeding.

Mimijumi nipples are breast-shaped and colored. So, even when bottle feeding, your baby will believe that they are breastfeeding.

These bottles are available in two types: Not So Hungry Bottles and Very Hungry Bottles. These bottles are designed to suit babies’ needs as they grow.

The 4 ounces option is called “Not So Hungry Bottle” and the 8 ounces bottle is called “Very Hungry Bottle.” Each pack comes with a bottle, cap and slow-flow nipple. It doesn’t have any lid to hold down the nipple, but the nipple stays in place because it is screw-on.

This baby bottle has a few parts and a wide mouth. That is why it is easy to clean. However, the bottles are not microwave-safe.

They use food and medical-grade silicone and nylon that doesn’t contain lead, BPA, latex, BPS, and other Estrogenic Activity (EA) agents.

Each pack of Mimijumi bottles contains the following:

  • One 4 ounces or 8 ounces container
  • One standard FRI nipples
  • One travel cap
  • One non-skid base
  • A care manual.

Note: Though this is a great bottle, not all babies love this bottle. So, buy one first to try on your child, and then go for a set if your baby loves it.

Amber’s babies loved this bottle after rejecting others

Amber is a mom of two and the founder of My Chicken Guide. She said:

“I used the Mimijumi bottles for both of my children. I breastfed and bottle-fed my children and loved that the Mimijumi bottle teat is shaped like a breast mimicking breastfeeding. Both my children happily took to the Mimijumi bottle after rejecting other types of bottles previously. It has a lovely skin-like texture and it’s very easy to clean.”

Features And Benefits Of Mimijumi Bottles

  • Unique Shape

Mimijumi nipples seek to mimic nature and use screw-on dome-shaped and breast-colored nipples. These nipples have a slow flow and make the baby suck on them to produce milk. This makes it different from other gravity-fed bottles that drop milk immediately after you bend it downwards.

The idea is to make the baby feel like they are breastfeeding even when using a bottle.

This cap design is unique to Mimijumi, you can’t find it in other baby bottle brands. Mimijumi sells nipple replacements separately. So, you can get the nipples if you run out of the old one or you don’t fancy the nipple flow that came with your bottle.

These replacement nipples are available in slow and medium flow rates.

Dr. Staci loves this bottle’s shape

Dr. Staci Holweger is the Founder and Dr. of Regenerative medicine at Lifepatches. She said:

“I really like my Mimijumi breast milk bottle. It is made by the same brand that makes my Mimijumi pacifiers. I am impressed with the Mimijumi bottle because it’s a great size and shape and it’s BPA-free. I love the design of the bottle. It is easy to feed my baby. I just pick up my Mimijumi bottle, press down a little and I have the right amount of milk for my baby at the right temperature. I also love that I can put my milk and cream in this bottle. It’s a fun bottle that makes it fun for me to pick and give to my baby. I would also like to mention that this bottle is easy to clean and I feel like it’s a great quality bottle.”

  • A skid-free base

The skid-free technology used for this bottle’s base makes it stay at the spot you keep it. This reduces your risk of accidentally bumping your baby’s milk over before you cover the lid.

Many bottle brands do not use skid-free technology. Though this doesn’t mean that their bases are slippery, they cannot grip the counter.

Mimijumi’s non-skid bases make it hold unto the counter so that it doesn’t fall from a slight bump. This makes it easy to fill the bottle with one hand while holding your baby in the other.

  • Angled neck

Angled neck bottles keep the nipple horizontal while you feed the baby. This promotes latching and mimics the breast.

However, not all bottle brands have angled neck bottles. This is why Mimijumi stands out.

With this angled neck feature, you will be able to hold your baby upright to feed, instead of laying them flat. Also, the baby will be able to hold the bottle and enjoy feeding, like when breastfeeding.

  • Anti-colic vents

Mimijumi also has anti-colic vents to help babies that are prone to colic. This vent reduces the amount of air that gets into your baby’s stomach. This makes the baby less fussy and reduces gas accumulation as well as acid reflux.

Because of this technology, the air that enters this bottle exits without mixing with the milk. This makes your baby swallow the milk without the air.

  • Non-toxic material

The material used in making this bottle and nipple is free from BPA, BPS, lead, latex, and phthalates. It is also free from Estrogenic Activity agents. This makes this bottle safe from the harmful effects that come with this bottle.

  • It has a wide neck

It is easy to clean wide-neck bottles. You can even wash it as the top rack of your dishwasher.

This wide-neck bottle provides a round base that is similar to your areola and promotes latching. However, the wide neck makes it only suitable for wide-mouth bottle warmers.

  • It is easy to use

Many features make this bottle easy to use. The non-skid base and wide neck make it easy to fill the bottle with one hand. It is a good choice for moms that have spilled too many bottles.

It is also easy to open and close this bottle with one hand. This is because the bottle does not use an extra lid to close down the cap.

  • Milk flow

Some moms still complain that this bottle’s slowest nipple flows too quickly. That means that the baby doesn’t have full control over how much milk they take in. This may be dependent on the age of the baby involved, but newborns are the most affected.

  • Bottle quality

Mimijumi bottles have a rigid body that fails to mimic the soft breast system. The company paid more attention to the nipple in making it closer to humans but forgot the bottle. That is not still a problem, because your baby may focus on the nipple and not the body.

The bottle cap is also an issue of concern. It doesn’t fit the bottle very well and may fall off regularly. This could be because of the absence of a lid to hold it down on the bottle.

It also plays a role in feeding. This bottle nipple is longer than the human nipple. This makes it quite unsuitable for smaller babies, because they may gag when feeding from it.

Inez recommends this bottle. She said:

Inez of Live Laugh Create said:

“As a parent, I was always looking for the best way to feed my child. I wanted something that was safe, easy to use, and would provide my child with the nutrition they needed. I tried out a lot of different products, but none of them really met my expectations.

That is until I found Mimijumi bottles. These bottles are made with safe, high-quality materials and are very easy to use. They are also designed to provide your child with the nutrients they need. I love Mimijumi bottles and would highly recommend them to any parent looking for the best way to feed their child.”

Pros

  • They are made from latex and BPA-free material
  • It has anti-colic properties to prevent air from entering your baby’s stomach
  • It is easy to wash this bottle and nipple
  • The bottle is easy to use. You can open it with one hand

  • It is quite pricey
  • The slow flow nipple may be too fast for a newborn
  • The long nipple can make some newborns and smaller babies gag

Mimijumi Bottles vs Other Baby Bottles

Mimijumi Bottles Vs Comotomo

Comotomo bottles are great and many moms applaud them for mimicking the human breast so well. Moms also love Mimijumi bottles. However, since they are two different products, they have some differences.

They both have anti-colic vents and wide necks, making them easy to clean. They are also easy to use and assemble.

Mimijumi bottles use high-quality Swiss nylon for the bottle and medical-grade silicone for their nipples. This Swiss nylon material makes the bottle harder than silicone, and as durable as plastic. It also makes the bottle clear and transparent. The silicone nipple gives a soft natural feel.

Comotomo bottles and nipples on the other hand use medical-grade silicone to make bottles. This makes the bottle softer than Mimijumi. It also makes the bottle look cloudy. However, since the bottles are soft, they cannot resist high heat. This makes it difficult to warm the bottle.

The silicone materials used for the nipples of these two brands prevent nipple confusion.

Again, Mimijumi bottles are available in 4 and 8 ounces, but Comotomo is in 5 and 8 ounces.

Both are great bottles to use,  but we prefer Mimijumi over Comotomo because of the non-skid bottom, angled neck, and super easy cleaning.

Medela Calma Breastmilk Bottles

Mimijumi bottles and Medela Calma baby bottles have a non-flow mechanism. Your baby will work more to get milk from the bottle.

However, they will work more with Medela because the child will first need to create a vacuum in the bottle before the milk can flow. Again, Medela has a flow control valve that you can use to regulate the flow more.

The nipples of Medela Calma are closer to the natural nipples than Mimijumi. So, the chances of nipple confusion are reduced to the least.

You can also use this Medela nipple with all Medela breastmilk bottles. If the Medela bottle you buy is compatible with Medela Pump, you will save more because you can use the same bottles with this nipple.

Compared to Mimijumi, the nipples of Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottles are softer and more suitable for newborns. The baby will latch even better, and won’t gag.

Also, your baby can hold this bottle because of its hourglass shape. This will help you better when your baby is ready to start feeding alone.

Tommee Tippee bottles are available in glass and plastic materials, but Mimijumi is made from Swiss nylon material.
